The Plain

Went on a off peak weekday with my bff and enjoy our branch. I borrow my dad car and we drove to there, looking for a parking lot is not a problem over there because opposite the cafe has a multi-car park.

Latte S$3.90

Espresso S$3.00 + Ice Cream S$1.50

The cafe doesn't have a individual menu for the customer, the big menu board is pinned on the wall. I order a cup of Latte taste pretty good. My friend order a cup of espresso and scoop of ice cream to mix it together, the combination taste like ice blended coffee.

The time we arrived the cafe are quite quiet but when it hit the lunch time the cafe slowly getting crowded. I notice majority of the diner are Caucasian perhaps due to the area environment?

Turkey Ciabattas S$6.00

Smoked chicken whole wheat cut sandwiches S$9.00

We order 2 sandwiches and share. I order the turkey sandwiches, I find the ciabatta is over toasted and is kind of hard to chew. My friend order the smoked chicken which is a better choice. At least the bread is not over toasted and the portion is much bigger than mine. Overall, I would said perhaps Subway make a better sandwiches.

Full House Cafe

I always pass by this cute little cafe many times during my bus trip to home but I have never notice it until I saw a promotion on a coupon website offering their set meal. The name of the restaurant did attract my attention and with the picture shown on the website would draw me to visit someday. And I did, I bought the set meal voucher and visit the cafe on a weekday afternoon with my friend.

Upon arrived at the ground floor, there are no server or attendant around so we hesitant a while and I move forward to open the door. Than one of the staff came out and told us the restaurant is located at level 2.

The first impress is wOw, the decoration is kind of special, it seem like I just stepped into someone house. There are sofa, bed, wardrobe, dressing table etc and even a small garden with fake bird inside and outside the cage.

I didn't feel like a odd person who using camera keep snapping away with those ornament because there are a few people doing that too. =p

Luckily that day is not crowded at all plus the weather is raining heavily, it does make people stay away and be a couch potato.

Aglio Olio Spaghetti

Al-Funghi Spaghetti

Food wise, nothing to be amaze and crave about. My friend said the taste is like eating maggi noodle. lOl.. Both of the dish have lots of garlic and I'm lucky one as mine still have mushroom to pair with. My friend order only have lots of garlic, a few pieces dry tomatoes and spaghetti. I think I can cook a better one, even anybody can cook a better one too.

I don't think I will re-visit this cafe but is worth to visit for snapping picture away if you are a photogenic person. ;)

PS Cafe

My friend had told me before she wanted to learn about cosmetic make-up. As always I will browse those online coupon website and happen by coincidence I saw one coupon offering basic make up lesson at $17, so I check with my friend if she interested and we can go together and learn more about make up technique.

And of course, she thrilled and wanted to go for the course. The course is located at International Plaza and after the lesson I decided to have our lunch at Ann Siang Hill. I didn't plan in advance which restaurant to visit.

Upon arrived, we walk around the area and see than decide. There are plenty choice of restaurant to go for and after 15 minutes of strolling, I choose to go PS Cafe.

This small little operation menu is place directly outside the main door wall and be aware that this outlet can admit adults and teenagers only. Families with children are not allow in this outlet only. Hmm is that cool or weird? ^.^"

See how sinful yummylicious the dessert is. The most attract my attention is the Double Chocolate Blackout w Ice Cream (at the left corner), see how tall is the cake, omg super sinful but I like.

Breakfast Sandwich (S$19)

I order a Breakfast Sandwich, there are fried egg with tomato, bacon and melted gruyere on toasted croissant & rocket salad. The sandwich taste pretty good but not really that overwhelming. I like the rocket salad more, it has the sour and sweet combination taste.

Strawberry Pancakes (S$23)

My friend order the strawberry pancakes and we share our meal together. Honestly, I would said McDonald makes better pancakes than PS. The pancakes is dry and tasteless, not fluffy at all. It's better to dip with the strawberry sauce given to finish it. Ohh and there are maple syrup but is just so little, I try not to pour too much as my friend want the syrup too. Overall we are not really that impress with the food but I truly like the almosphere and decoration.

Little Pancake

My first tasted, prepared and cook pancake experience from McDonald. During my secondary schooling day, I work part time in McDonald as a crew. I get to learn from basic like sweeping, cleaning, mopping the floor and table. Slowly proceed to cashier and learn to take order. Finally I get the chance to enter the kitchen and learn to cook, this is the part where I enjoy the most. I get to learn both the breakfast and lunch cum dinner menu. But eventually I only manage to cook breakfast menu because lunch cum dinner menu are too complex for me. The variety ingredient are too many to memorise compare to breakfast which is much easier.

Althought I only worked for 1 year but I get to learn alot from there and this is one of my flavour and enjoyable job in my life. My passion for F&B dream job is always in my wish list but yet to fulfill.

 The glass panel so adorable

Queue no 7 & Interesting menu name

We went on a Saturday dinner time and we are lucky that the restaurant is not crowded at all, perhaps there are plenty of empty seat. Most of the diner leave after finish their food but we seat back and relax after the meal in a cosy ambience.

 Orange Juice (S$2.30) & AppleYakult Love (S$3.70)

I order a cup of Orange Juice (left) and my bgf order a cup of AppleYakult Love (right).

Gimme S'more Oreos! (S$8.20)

Ham & Cheesy (S$8.50)

We order 2 different set and share, this two are the quite popular vote I got the information from the net. I ask my bfg if she like this two set and she fine with it.

Both are good, the Oreo set come with marshmallow and the friendly staff told us to eat the marshmallow while is still hot. The moment I serve the marshmallow into my mouth it melted & bit of crispy on the external. I couldn't talk to my bfg because the marshmallow is floating + melting in my mouth = power! It comes with a scoop of chocolate ice cream and a miniature glass of maple syrup with each set which I think is tooooo little.

Didn't know that ham & cheese can be such a good combination with the moist and fluffy mini hotcakes. Yum yum!! It served with mash potatoes and a spoonful of butter. We hardly touch the butter given. The ham & cheese taste wonderful delicious on itself already.

I realise there are plenty of restaurant and cafe going on around that stretch of area. I will make a point to visit the other food store on my next visit to upper thomson road.

Forty H4nds

Another eye-catching but nook place for a snug brunch. Meeting up my friend to discuss the itinerary for our up coming Bangkok trip in October. Just a few more week away to my holiday, yip pee!

The moment we arrive around 11am on weekend and the place is full of people indoor and outdoor. We can hardly find seat, you just have to wait for other diner to finish their meal to get a seat. You have to be prepare if u wanted to visit on the weekend. Not sure weekday also that crowded. Interesting part is the cafe have a outdoor back yard for diner and the indoor space is too narrow and cramped. While queueing up to order, you have to keep make space and move aside for the diner and the staff who are moving around.

When we entering the cafe and the first thing my friend told me that she feel like she exist in a pub early in the morning. lOl! I agree with her, because the cafe play very loud music. Not appropriate right? Shouldn't they play soft and smoothing music in the morning.

Dessert

 Cookies

Latte

My friend order a cup of Latte and a sandwich, not sure what the name for this sandwich. This sandwich recommended by the staff, my friend share some with me. This sandwich indeed delicious, the bread is crispy after tossed and the filling is sweet and savoury with chunky vegetable.

Lemon Ginger Tea (S$4.00) & Tau Sar Pao (S$2.50)

I order a cup of Lemon Ginger Tea and Tau Sar Pao. The tea has a bit of mint spicy taste, not my cup of tea. >.<
I like the tau sar pao, the pao is soft, fluffy with smooth texture and the red bean filling is generous enough not over sweeten.

I would come back for the food again but certainly be it on a weekday or take away on the weekend.

Taipei Cafe

.

I have seen this cafe a few times whenever I waiting for the bus to travel back home, is located opposite of Bugis shopping mall near the bus stop. But I didn't had the chance to visit this cafe until one day my friend told me that she had visit a few times and just nice I saw the Big Deal offering their voucher at $9.50 for one set meal consist of a cup of drink with 2 side dishes and a choice of fried chicken or pork ribs rice. So I bought the voucher and went with my friend to have a try.

Menu of Drink / Snow Ice and Taiwan Food

Initially we order green milk tea and black milk tea but the waitress heard as red tea and green tea. When the drink arrived, me and my friend look at the drink and ask each other how come the milk tea look so clear. So I check with the waitress than realise that there is an miscommunication and they change to the milk tea for us. I order the green milk tea, the taste of the milk is not very strong and with a little hint of green tea taste. My friend order the black milk tea, the taste is much better than the green milk tea.

  Fried Crispy Chicken Rice Set

Fried Pork Ribs Rice Set

Both of the meat are quite oily with thick batter. They topped some delicious seasoning on the chicken but the batter is thicker than the meat. The pork ribs is too oily and the whole piece look big not because of the meat but the bones. Good point is that the meat is not tough.

Cabbage with dried fish & dried shrimp in special sauce

I so stupid to order this because the set meal rice come with it too. The cabbage taste abit salty but quite tasty.

Braised  pork intestines

The pork intestines is soft and easy to chew but I don't like the center filling which has the powdery taste.

Marinated Egg

It taste just like a normal boiled egg to me.

Chilled tofu with century egg

The tofu is cold and silky with the sweet sauce dazed on it. I think I will come back for the drink but not the food. I find the cafe is spacious and there are 2 large plasma tv play the chinese song with MV. A good place to chilled with friends.

I heard my friend told me some of the staff are Taiwanese, so surprise that they actually hire taiwanese people to work in singapore. I have a good impression with taiwanese people after my trip to there, taiwanese people are really friendly and helpful when I was there during my holiday trip.
